Irmgard Egert

Irmgard Egert (born April 26, 1932 in Mainz-Kostheim ) is a former German athlete from the Federal Republic of Germany who became vice European champion in the 4 x 100 meter relay in 1954 .

Irmgard Egert started her career at Eintracht Wiesbaden and then started two years for SV Wiesbaden. From 1953 she belonged to the sports club Eintracht Frankfurt . At the German Championships in 1953, she finished third both over 100 meters and over 200 meters . With the season of Eintracht Frankfurt she won her first German championship title in 49.1 seconds. 1954 the first German indoor championships were held in Frankfurt, Egert won the title in the sprint over 70 meters and with the 4-times-one-round relay. In the outdoor season, she took second place behind Maria Sander over 100 meters .

At the European Championships in 1954 in Bern, Egert retired over 100 meters in the intermediate run. The West German relay team with Irmgard Egert, Charlotte Böhmer , Irene Brütting and Maria Sander won the silver medal behind the Soviet relay team in 46.3 seconds.

In 1955 Irmgard Egert won two German championship titles when she won with the Eintracht Frankfurt relay both indoors and outdoors. In 1956 she won the third title in a row with the indoor relay.
