Irmingard Schewe-Gerigk (born May 15, 1948 in Rendsburg ) is a German politician ( Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen ). From 1994 to 2009 she was a member of the Bundestag , where she was parliamentary director of her parliamentary group from 2002 .

Life and work

After completing secondary school , Irmingard Schewe-Gerigk began commercial training in the steel trade in 1965 and then worked in a medium-sized wholesale company from 1969. In 1980 she switched to journalism and initially worked as an editorial assistant. From 1983 to 1993 she was a university editor at the Fernuniversität Hagen and from 1989 to 1992 she was freelance women's representative at the university. In 1993 she moved to the department "Promotion of Women in Public Service" of the Ministry for Equality between Women and Men in the State of North Rhine-Westphalia .

politics

From 1976 Schewe-Gerigk was a member of the Young Democrats and the FDP , which she left in 1982 after the end of the social-liberal coalition . She joined the Liberal Democrats before joining the Greens in 1986. From 1992 to 1999 she headed the state working group on women's policy of the Greens in North Rhine-Westphalia. Since 2002 she has been the spokeswoman for the district executive of Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen in the Ennepe-Ruhr district .

From 1984 to 1994 Schewe-Gerigk was a member of the district council of the Ennepe-Ruhr district and from 1989 to 1994 was spokeswoman for the parliamentary group of the Greens.

Since 2009 she has been a member of the city council in Herdecke .

From 1994 to 2009 she was a member of the German Bundestag . Since 1998 she has been spokeswoman for the Bundestag faction Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen for women's policy. From 1998 to 2002 she was also family policy and from 2002 to 2005 senior political group spokeswoman. Since 2002 she has been Parliamentary Managing Director and since 2005 also spokeswoman for pension policy of the parliamentary group of the Greens. Schewe-Gerigk has always entered the Bundestag via the state list of North Rhine-Westphalia .

Schewe-Gerigk was chairman of the board of the Terre des Femmes association from 2009 to 2014 .
