from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Isaac Heijmans Presburg (* around 1747–1750 in Pressburg , Hungary ; † May 3, 1832 in Nijmegen ) was a textile merchant, money changer and rabbi.

His father was Chajm Presburg and his grandfather was either Rabbi Michel Lazarus Presburg († 1756) or his brother Mayer Pressburg († 1752). Their father, in turn, was head of the Jewish community in what was then Hungary in 1699, and in 1705 a Viennese coin jew and chief court factor in Vienna.

In 1775 he came to Holland, possibly because of persecution in his hometown.

In 1785 Nanette married Salomon Barent-Cohen (* 1764 in Amsterdam; † April 7, 1833 in Nijmegen), the daughter of Salomon Barent Cohen (around 1732-1804; the brother of Levy Barent Cohen , whose children had fished good matches ) in Nijmegen in 1785 ). The couple had five children, including the daughters Henriette (born September 20, 1788; ⚭ 1814 Heinrich Marx ) and Sophia (born November 15, 1792; ⚭ Lion Philips ).

His house, which is now reminiscent of a memorial stone, stood in Grotestraat 31 or 33 leading down from the market square to the Waalkade.

He became the head of the synagogue on Nonnenstraat.
