Isaac Edward Slade (born May 26, 1981 in Boulder , Colorado ) is the lead singer , songwriter , pianist and co-founder of the Denver-based indie rock band The Fray .

life and career

Early years

Slade was born in Boulder, Colorado and grew up with his family near Denver. This included both parents, both missionaries from the same family, and two younger brothers, Caleb and Micah. He attended Faith Christian Academy in Arvada , Colorado and later graduated from the University of Colorado Denver .

Slade started singing when he was eight years old. He started playing the piano at eleven after losing his voice at times. He wrote his first song when he was 16 and learned to play the guitar in high school.

The fray

In 2002 Isaac Slade (vocals, piano) and Joe King (vocals, guitar) formed the band. With the support of local radio stations, their first single, the demo version of Over My Head (Cable Car) , became one of the most played songs in Denver in 2004. Because of this success, the Epic Records label offered them a record deal in 2004.

Her debut album How to Save a Life was released on September 13, 2005 in the USA. The German publication took place on October 27, 2006.

The second studio album, The Fray , was released on February 3, 2009 in the United States . The first single from it is the song You Found Me .

In October 2011, The Fray released their first single Heartbeat for digital sale in the US. Her third studio album Scars and Stories was released on March 2, 2012.

Work outside of The Fray

Slade appeared on the cover of the 1985 benefit single, We Are the World . Together with other artists, he was able to collect donations for the victims of the 2010 earthquake in Haiti .
