Isaac Braband

Isaak Braband (* around 1727 in Berlin ; † January 9, 1790 in Breslau ) was a German portrait and history painter . He was active in his hometown and in Wroclaw.

Life

Braband was trained by the court painter Antoine Pesne and David Matthieu . His preference was for oil painting , which he carried out with strong coloring . In addition, he devoted himself - almost exclusively in his youth - to pastel painting . He created portraits and miniatures . Among the history paintings, the altarpiece Hedwig, Maria and Anna created for the Minorite Church in Cosel is worth mentioning, the current location of which is unknown.

Gottfried August Thilo stood out among his students. He was appointed extraordinary member of the Royal Academy of Arts in Berlin in 1791 .
