Isabel Ettenauer

Isabel Ettenauer (* 1972 in St. Pölten , Lower Austria ) is an Austrian pianist and toy piano virtuoso.

Life

She received her first musical training at the age of five, and when she was seven she devoted herself to intensive piano studies. After graduating from school, she continued her musical education, first in Vienna with Noel Flores and Adrian Cox and later in Switzerland with Emmy Henz-Diémand. She then went to London to perfect her skills with Peter Feuchtwanger and Philip Mead.

In 1997 Isabel received the Young Artists Prize (St. Pölten), in 1999 and 2000 a scholarship for the Dartington International Summer School in Great Britain, which enabled her to study with Joanna MacGregor and Rolf Hind.

Ettenauer entered a. a. in the Wigmore Hall (London), in the Wiener Konzerthaus , at the Festival d'Avignon , at the Opéra de Lille (both France), at the Ravello Festival (Italy), at the Uovo Performing Arts Festival (Milan), at the Making New Waves Festival ( Budapest), Gaudeamus Music Week (Amsterdam), the Inspiracje Festival Szczecin (Poland), the Rialto Theater Limassol, the SonoAus Festival (Madrid) and the Castelliotissa Nicosia (Cyprus). She also played concerts in New York and Washington, as well as in Taipei (Taiwan) in summer 2010.

Her London toy piano debut at the BMIC Cutting Edge Series was chosen as the Pick of the Week by British newspapers. In 2009 there were 15 performances of her project CIRCUS LEBASI, which was commissioned by Linz09, the European Capital of Culture, and which she developed together with the French circus artist Jérôme Thomas during a two-year preparation period.

For Ettenauer's toy piano project THE JOY OF TOY , over 40 new pieces by international composers have been created, including a. by Stephen Montague , Henry Brant , Manuela Kerer , Karlheinz Essl , Tom Johnson , Otto Lechner , Tomi Räisänen and Franz Danksagmüller . In June 2006, her debut album the joy of toy , with nine compositions written especially for Ettenauer, was awarded the Pasticcio Prize by Radio Austria 1 .
