Isabell Mahrer

Isabell Mahrer (born July 1, 1917 in Basel ; resident in Möhlin ) is a Swiss lawyer , actress and women's rights activist from the canton of Aargau .

Life

Isabell Mahrer is a daughter of Otto Mahrer, notary , and Wilhelmine Disler. She grew up in Rheinfelden . After attending the girls' high school in Basel, she studied law in Paris and Basel as well as German and musicology in Zurich . She graduated from drama school . From 1940 to 1949 she worked as an actress. In 1951 she graduated from the School for Social Work in Zurich. From 1956 to 1961 she continued her law studies in Basel and obtained a doctorate in law in 1967 . From 1951 to 1956 she was in charge of the Aargau umbrella picture center. From 1961 she worked for the judiciary in the canton of Aargau. She worked as a clerk and actuary at the Baden Labor Court . Mahler served as a substitute judge at the higher court . From 1972 to 1980 she was a member of the Aargau Constitutional Council. She worked with the Swiss Association for Women's Rights . From 1981 to 1983 she was the central president of the Swiss Association of Women Academics. From 1976 to 1987 she was a member of the Federal Commission for Women's Issues and the sub-commission for the 10th revision of old-age and survivors' insurance (AHV).
