Isabell Otto (born November 1, 1976 in Freiburg im Breisgau ) is a German media scientist.

Life

From 1997 to 2002 she studied theater, film and television studies , German language and literature and philosophy at the Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg , the University of Cologne and the University of Paris III (UFR Cinéma et audiovisuel). From 2002 to 2008 she was a research assistant at the cultural studies research college “Media and Cultural Communication”, Cologne. From 2004 to 2009 she was a research assistant at the Institute for Theater, Film and Television Studies, University of Cologne. After completing his doctorate in Cologne in 2008 , dissertation: “Aggressive media. On the history of knowledge about media violence ”(summa cum laude), she was a research assistant from 2008 to 2010 in the coordination office of the graduate school“ Locating Media / Located Media ”and at Faculty 3 - Language, Literature and Media Studies at the University of Siegen . From 2010 to 2015 she was junior professor for media studies in Konstanz . From 2013 to 2014 she represented the W2 professorship for media technology and media philosophy at the Ruhr University Bochum . From 2014 to 2015 she was a fellow at the Cultural Studies College of the Cluster of Excellence “Cultural Foundations of Integration”. Since 2015 she has been teaching as a professor for media studies with a focus on media participation in digital cultures (research group professorship, funded by the German Research Foundation ).
