Isaiah Ahmad Young (born March 30, 1998 in Berlin , New Jersey ) is an American football player . The striker has been under contract with Werder Bremen since summer 2017 .

Career

Young completed his schooling at YSC Academy and graduated from Life Center Academy in New Jersey . At the beginning of 2017, the striker came from the Players Development Academy, for which he scored 30 goals in two seasons, from the USA to the A-Juniors (U19) at Werder Bremen . For the U19 he made 11 appearances (8 times from the start) in the A-Juniors Bundesliga by the end of the 2016/17 season , in which he scored 3 goals.

For the 2017/18 season , Young received his first professional contract for the second team in the third division . He played 28 third division games for Werder's second substitute, but was only in the starting line-up 5 times. At the end of the season, the team was relegated to the Regionalliga Nord . In the 2018/19 season , Young was used more often in the starting line-up. He played 26 regional league games (19 times from the start) in which he scored 2 goals.

For the 2019/20 season, Young moved to the Belgian second division club Royale Union Saint-Gilloise for a year on loan . There he made 16 league appearances (4 times from the beginning) until the end of the season due to the COVID-19 pandemic .

For the 2020/21 season , Young returned to Werder Bremen's second team.
