The Isarog is a 1966 meter high stratovolcano , about 280 km southeast of Manila . It is located in the Philippines on the island of Luzon in the province of Camarines Sur in the Bicol region about 20 km northeast of the city of Naga . The Mount Isarog National Park was founded in 1938 and covers the entire mountain over an area of 99.71 km².
Its base diameter is given as 32.5 km, its rock is classified as augite - andesite . On its mountain slopes there are geothermal springs that come out with a temperature of 30 to 55 ° C, sometimes the temperatures reach over 80 ° C. For this reason, the Isarog is described as a potentially active volcano. However, there is no written evidence of an eruption in the past 500 years.
