The species is widespread in Europe, especially in the west. In the north it occurs to the south of Scandinavia and Great Britain, in the south to western North Africa and further east over Central Europe to Russia. The species is widespread in Germany, but more common in the north than in the south, and it is absent in Austria. The animals inhabit sandy soils in heather -Heiden, fallow or waste ground and live between mosses and lichens, but also in the leaf litter below junipers ( Juniperus ) and cytisus ( Cytisus ). The animals are rarely found on stony ground, for example under sagebrush ( Artemisia campestris ).

Way of life

It has not been proven that the animals have special food plants. One generation occurs per year, with mating in May and the adults of the new generation appearing from July.
