Iselisberg is a settlement in the canton of Thurgau in Switzerland . It belongs to the political community of Uesslingen-Buch in the Frauenfeld district .

geography

The hamlet is located west of the district capital Frauenfeld on the Iselisberg and had 48 inhabitants in 2018. Behind the village lie the Hüttwilersee , the Nussbaumersee and the Hasensee . Iselisberg is the center of the wine-growing region of the same name, which is known far beyond the canton's borders.

history

The long and steep southern slope at the foot of the settlement was completely covered with vines until the beginning of the 20th century. However, until the 1960s, viticulture disappeared almost completely. Only as part of a landscape improvement (1967–1980) was a continuous vineyard of approx. 50 hectares created again.

Iselisberg is listed in the inventory of places worth protecting in Switzerland .

Surroundings

To the east of Iselisberg is the monastery of Kartause Ittingen , which was founded in 1150. The largest vineyard in the canton of Thurgau was planted on the southern slope of the Iselisberg. In the Seebach valley lies the Nussbaumersee, which is a nature reserve.

Events

Every year in July, the summer night ball (approx. 3000 visitors) and a tractor pulling take place.
