Isha Khan
Isha Khan ( Bengali ঈশা খাঁ , Īśā Khā̃ ; * August 18, 1529 ; † September 17, 1599 ) was the political and military leader of the Baro Bhuiyans , an alliance of twelve regional rulers in medieval Bengal . He himself ruled in the East Bengal plains around the town of Sonargaon .
During his reign he made fierce resistance to the slowly expanding Mughal empire , in particular in 1584–86 in battles against Shahbaz Khan Kamboh , the general of the Great Mogul Akbar I , and in 1594 against Man Singh . After Isa Khan's natural death, he was followed by his son Musa Khan , who had to submit to the Mughal Empire in 1610.
Isha Khan's first wife was Fatema Khan of the Hussein Shah dynasty . Later he also married Sarna Moi, the daughter of the King of Sripur , who took the name Sona Bibi after converting to Islam .
In 1992 he was honored with a Bangladeshi 4 Taka stamp.
