Isidor Aschheim
Isidor Aschheim , also Isidor Ascheim , (born October 14, 1891 in Margonin ; died May 19, 1968 in Jerusalem ) was a German-Israeli painter and graphic artist .
Life
Aschheim, scion of an Orthodox Jewish family, studied from 1919 to 1923 at the Breslau Art Academy under Fryderyk Pautsch and the expressionist Otto Mueller . In 1925 he became a member of the Silesian Artists Association , within which he also belonged to the group in 1922 . In 1933 he was banned from working and exhibiting. In 1939 he decided to emigrate to Palestine . In 1943 he became a teacher at the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design in Jerusalem , of which he was later also director.
