Isidoro de María
Isidoro de María Gómez (born January 2, 1815 in Montevideo , Uruguay , † August 16, 1906 ibid) was a Uruguayan writer , journalist , educator and politician .
He was born in Montevideo as the son of the Italian Juan María de María and the Argentine María Luisa Gómez. Here he first visited the Escuela Lancasteriana . From 1829 he worked as a printer in the state printing house. He later founded the newspaper El Constitucional (1838–1846), which dealt with political issues, and became vice-consul in Gualeguaychú, Argentina . In addition, he sat between February 27, 1869 and February 14, 1873 as a member of the House of Representatives for the Soriano Department, and from 1870 to 1872 he also held the office of First Vice-President of the Chamber. He was also active as a writer. His work Vida del Brigadier General José Gervasio Artigas fundador de la Nacionalidad Oriental was published in 1860 . He also founded La Revista del Plata (1877–1878), a publication devoted to Uruguayan history. He was also the editor of Compendio de la Historia de la República Oriental del Uruguay . His best known book is Tradiciones y recuerdos .
