Israeli Highway 1 ( Hebrew כביש 1 Kwisch Echad , German: "Landstrasse 1") is a road that connects Tel Aviv with Jerusalem and the Dead Sea . As far as Jerusalem it is a motorway, as it continues through the West Bank it becomes a simple road (meanwhile developed like a motorway over longer stretches), which leads to Bet HaArava and ends at highway 90 .

The motorway is particularly heavily congested at the entrances and exits to Tel Aviv and Jerusalem.
