As a highly experienced harpist, he taught at the Escola de Montserrat from 1705 to 1715. He shared this position with Vicent Presiac and replaced Miguel López while he was organist in Valladolid .

In the face of centralizing pressure from the Valladolid Congregation , to which the Monastery of Montserrat belonged, Roi defended the interests of the Montserratin monks and disciples who still belonged to the Crown of Catalonia Aragon . To this end he wrote a memorandum in 1717, which he handed over to the Abbot General. He became prior in Valencia and from 1701 to 1705 abbot of the monastery of Sant Benet de Bages .
