İskender Yediler

İskender Yediler (* 1953 in Eskişehir , Turkey ) is a German-Turkish sculptor who has lived in Germany since he was a child . He studied sculpture with Ulrich Rückriem in Düsseldorf.

In 1961 Yediler came to Germany. From 1972 to 1974 he first attended the technical college for design in Munich, then the technical college, from which he graduated in 1979 with a diploma for graphic design. From 1981 to 1983 Yediler studied sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich , then he attended the State Art Academy in Düsseldorf until 1987 .

Artistic work

Yediler has been exhibiting in galleries internationally since 1988. From 2002 onwards, a number of sculptures of saints were created in public space, such as the Cassius and Florentius in front of the Bonn Minster , a St. Benno sculpture in front of the St. Benno Church in Munich, St. Gereon in front of the St. Gereon Church in Cologne and St. Blasius in front of the cathedral of the former Benedictine monastery in St. Blasien in the Black Forest.

Jeff Wall called Yediler's inflatable sculptures “foreign and at the same time original, German”.

In 2004 the artist realized a “door project” in Simferopol together with the Goethe Institute in Kiev .

Iskender Yediler lives and works in Berlin today.
