Sea lions on Rábida

Rábida is one of the Galápagos Islands . The approximately five square kilometer island, which is inhabited by flamingos , sea ​​lions , pelicans , gannets , pintail ducks and finches , is 4.3 km south of the island of San Salvador . The iron oxide-containing volcanic slag colors the island's sand dark red.

The island was also known as Jervis Island, named after the British Admiral John Jervis, Earl of St. Vincent (1735-1823). In Ecuador the island is called Isla Rábida.

The salt water lagoon and sandy beaches in the north of the island are often visited by tourists.
