The Islamic Institute Chussain Faischanow ( Russian: Нижегородский исламский институт (НИИ) им. Х. Фаизханова ; scientific transliteration Nižegorodskij islamskij institut (NII ) is a registered Islamic institute (NII) in 2005 in the. Ch the Nizhny Novgorod Oblast with its seat in its capital Nizhny Novgorod . Damir Muchetdinow is the director of the institute . The institute is named after Chusain Faizchanov (1823 or 1828–1866), the Tatar writer and scholar who dealt with education, history and pedagogy.

It was established by two organizations in Nizhny Novgorod Oblast , the Spiritual Administration of the Muslims of Nizhny Novgorod Oblast (DUMNO) in connection with the Regional National-Cultural Autonomy of the Tatars of Nizhny Novgorod Oblast (Regionalnaja nazionalno-kulturnaja avtonomija Tatar Nizhny Novgorod Oblasti -культурная автономия татар Нижегородской области / Regional'naja nacional'no-kul'turnaja avtonomija tatar Nižegorodskoj oblasti; English.Regional'naja nacional'no-kul'turnaja avtonomija tatar Nižegorodskoj oblasti; English. founded.

The institute also acts as an organizer of scientific conferences and participates in publishing and educational projects.

The construction of the institute was financed with funds from the Islamic Development Bank based in Jeddah , Saudi Arabia .

The Islamrf.ru portal, with financial support from the Russian Fund for the Support of Islamic Culture, Science and Education , notes the following:

"DUMNO in assistance with RNKATNO has founded Husein Faizkhanov Islamic Institute in Nizhny Novgorod - a nonreligious institute to prepare specialists in secular theology rather than in practical devotion. We hope to find opportunity to open departments of the Tatar language and Literature, of the Oriental languages, of Pedagogic and other secular disciplines for ethnic Muslims. We used to have a Tatar Pedagogical College in Nizhny Novgorod in the 1920s. Its graduates worked not only here in Nizhny Novgorod but also in our neighboring regions and republics of Chuvashia and Mordovia. Faizkhanov Islamic Institute might just as well provide specialists for the whole Volga Federal District. "
