Damir Waissowitsch Muchetdinow ( Russian Дамир Ваисович Мухетдинов ;. Scientific transliteration Damir Vaisovič Muchetdinov ; born in 1977 in Gorky (now Nizhny Novgorod), Soviet Union ), often in the case Damir Mukhetdinov , is a Russian-Tatar Islamic cleric, political scientist and politician Tatar origin from Nizhny Novgorod Oblast .

He is vice chairman of the of the Spiritual Board of Muslims of the European part of Russia (based in Moscow ) emerged Spiritual Board of Muslims of Russia ( Grand Mufti is Ravil Gainutdin ) and director of the Islamic Institute Chussain Faischanow in Nizhny Novgorod based in Nizhny Novgorod .

He is the former chairman of the Ulema Council of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Nizhny Novgorod Oblast (DUMNO). He was a member of the 4th Social Chamber of Russia , whose members are appointed by the Russian President . Since 2015 he has been Imam - Muchtasib of Saint Petersburg and Leningrad Oblast .

He is Deputy Director of the Center for Arabic and Islamic Studies at the Institute for Asian and African Studies at Moscow State University , also Editor-in-Chief of the Medina Publishing House in Nizhny Novgorod .

He received his PhD in political science from the Faculty of International Relations at Nizhny Novgorod State University .

He has dedicated a monograph to Chussain Faischanow (1823 or 1828–1866), the Tatar writer and scholar.

He is particularly interested in Islamic education in post- Soviet Russia .
