The Islote Skua ( Spanish ) is a small island in the Palmer Archipelago west of the Antarctic Peninsula . It is the westernmost of the Omikron Islands and is located around 700 m south of the southwestern extension of the Omega Island in the group of the Melchior Islands .
Chilean scientists named it after the Antarctic skua ( Stercorarius maccormicki ), which can be found here in large numbers.
