Ismaël Omar Mostefaï

Ismaël Omar Mostefaï (born November 21, 1985 in Courcouronnes , † November 14, 2015 in Paris ) was a French Islamist terrorist . He was one of the perpetrators of the November 13, 2015 terrorist attacks in Paris .

Life

Ismaël Omar Mostefaï was born on November 21, 1985 in a Parisian banlieue , the son of an Algerian and a Portuguese who converted to Islam . He had two brothers and two sisters. He lived in Chartres until 2012 . According to investigators, it is very likely that Mostefai was in Syria in the winter of 2013/14 during the civil war . There he radicalized in part. The investigators found clues for his transit in Turkey , but where his trace was lost. Ismaël Omar Mostefaï had a daughter in 2010. In the same year he was classified as a high risk person for possible radicalization. For some time it was kept in Fiche S , a register for possible threats to state security.

On Friday evening, 13 November 2015 Ismaël Omar Mostefai drove at 21.40 along with two other men in a black VW Polo before the Paris concert hall Bataclan . All were armed with AK-47 assault rifles and dressed in TATP - explosive vests . In the concert hall, the group began shooting into the crowd and taking hostages. Before the men blew themselves up in the room, they fought a word battle with the police: the words "Syria" and "Iraq" are said to have been uttered. When the Brigade de recherche et d'intervention (BRI) stormed, the men set off their explosives.

Investigations

Part of Mostefaï's finger must have been blasted off in one of the explosions. This was later found by the investigators and his fingerprint was evaluated. Ismaël Omar Mostefaï was thus identified as the first of the assassins. Mostefaï was known to the police because he was being charged with minor offenses and his fingerprints were stored in the police system.
