Life

Isra al-Mudallal was born the daughter of Palestinian refugees in Egypt. She grew up in Gaza and moved with her parents to Great Britain in the early 21st century , where her father obtained a PhD. She attended Grange Technology College in Bradford for four years, so she is fluent in English with a Yorkshire accent. In 2004 the family returned to Gaza . Her father has since worked as a professor of political science and history at the Islamic University of Gaza .

After studying media studies at the Islamic University of Gaza, Isra al-Mudallal worked as a presenter for the television channel "al-Kitab", which made her famous in Gaza. Although neither she nor her parents belong to Hamas, the Hamas government, which competes with the Fatah government , appointed Isra al-Mudallal as the English-speaking government spokeswoman in November 2013. Ihab al-Ghussein , who was appointed media minister by the Hamas leadership in 2013, modernized Hamas' website , ensured a presence on social media and sees the appointment of Mudallal as a means of appearing more open to the West .

Mudallal is divorced and lives with her daughter in Rafah .
