Israel Aronowitsch Feldman

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Israel Aronowitsch Feldman ( Russian Израиль Аронович Фельдман ; * 1933 in Rîbnița , Moldovan ASSR , Ukrainian SSR ) is a Moldovan - Israeli mathematician who deals with functional analysis .

Feldman studied at the State University in Chișinău and received his doctorate in 1964 under Israel Gohberg (some questions on the theory of normally resolvable operators and the theory of integral equations with kernel depending on the difference of the arguments (Russian)). He taught at the University of Chisinau and was at the Institute of Mathematics of the Moldovan Academy of Sciences . In 1990 he became a professor at Bar Ilan University .

Feldman and Gohberg developed projection methods for solving equations with convolution operators and Toeplitz matrices . He also dealt with the Wiener-Hopf equation and its application in radiation transport.
