The Issoire APM 30 Lion is a three-seater light aircraft produced by the French manufacturer Issoire Aviation .
construction
The machine was designed by Philippe Moniot and is the three-seater version of the APM 20 Lionceau . It is made entirely of GRP and is the first aircraft made of GRP and the only three-seater aircraft to be certified in the VLA class . A Rotax 912s is installed as the engine , which together with the MT-Prop-Twin- Propeller enables a cruising speed of 110 kn (204 km / h). It is also approved for NVFR .
The cockpit has flight instruments in the classic "six-pack arrangement". In the top row are the airspeed indicator , artificial horizon and altimeter ; in the lower turn pointer , compass and variometer . In the middle there is a multifunction display for engine monitoring. A glass cockpit is optionally available.
Following feedback from pilots, the manufacturer carried out a series of tests required by EASA , which made it possible to increase the maximum take- off weight from 736 to 750 kg. In addition, the flight controls were modified, which led to better handling of the aircraft.
Incidents
- On June 8, 2013 at 5:10 p.m., an 18-year-old student pilot and his 56-year-old teacher took off in an APM 30 with the aircraft registration F-GRRY of the Aéro Club SGAC de Saint Cyr l'Ecole on a training flight from Saint-Cyr airfield -l'École . After about twenty minutes of flight time, they lost control of the machine during a stable exercise and fell into a field, killing both occupants. A mechanical defect that led to the accident could not be determined.
