Istvan Katona

István Katona (born October 3, 1928 in Nagykáta ) is a Hungarian Roman Catholic clergyman and auxiliary bishop emeritus in Eger .

Life

István Katona was ordained a priest for the diocese of Vác on June 7, 1953 . Pope John Paul II appointed him auxiliary bishop in Vác and titular bishop of Brixellum on November 3, 1989 .

The Archbishop of Esztergom László Cardinal Paskai OFM consecrated him on 9 December of the same year Bishop ; Co- consecrators were Izidor István Marosi , Bishop of Vác and Endre Gyulay , Bishop of Szeged-Csanád .

On October 10, 1997 he was appointed auxiliary bishop in Eger .

On November 25, 2013, Pope Francis accepted his age-related resignation.
