István Szeli

István Szeli (Serbian spelling: Ištvan Seli ; born September 11, 1921 in Senta , Vojvodina , Yugoslavia ; † February 25, 2012 ) was a Yugoslav literary scholar who studied Hungarian literature of the 18th and 19th centuries.

After graduating from high school in Subotica , he studied Hungarian language and literature at the Loránd Eötvös University in Budapest and did his doctorate at the University of Novi Sad , where he taught as a full professor from 1974. Since 1991 he has been a full member of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts .
