Ital Reding the Younger

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ital Reding the Younger (* 1410 probably in Schwyz ; † August 13, 1466 in Oberarth ) was Schwyz Landammann and captain in the Old Zurich War .

biography

Ital Reding was the son of the Schwyzer Landammann Ital Reding the elder . He was married to Anna Wagner, one of the few historically established biographical facts.

Little is known about his work; Ital Reding was governor of Baden from 1433 to 1435. From 1438 until his death in 1466 he repeatedly represented the state of Schwyz at federal diets and in 1447 he took over the office of his father as his successor. In the negotiations for the peace and federal renewal between Bern and Freiburg (→ Freiburg War ), Ital Reding was chairman in 1454 and in 1456 he held the office of arbitrator in the dispute between Bern and Lucerne .

Except for a reference in the chronicle of Arth - purchase of the collateral right from Arth by Landammann Ital Reding - there is little reliable information about his political work and life up to his violent death. Ital Reding is said to have been killed on August 15, 1466 by a man from Vorarlberg who was not mentioned by name under unknown circumstances near Oberarth.
