Italia (label)
Italia was a German record brand that specialized in Italian performers . The brand was created by the Munich music publisher and record producer Dr. Karl Heinz Busse and was distributed by Metronome .
history
Italia records were released in Germany between 1962 and 1966. The record brand achieved its greatest sales success with recordings by Gigliola Cinquetti (1964: Non ho l'età ) and Peppino di Capri (1962: “St. Tropez Twist”).
Most of the recordings on Italia records were released in the Federal Republic with permits from the Italian record brands Carisch, CGD and Dischi ricordi (all based in Milan ). There were also licenses in which the Italian interpreters sang German songs: either they were German versions of Italian hits or they were purely German productions. In the latter, Henry Mayer was mostly responsible for the music and Kurt Hertha for the text.
In addition to a few long-playing records and EPs , the focus at Italia was on the production of single records.
