Iurie Darie

Iurie Darie (born March 14, 1929 in Vadul Raşcov , Soroca ; † November 9, 2012 in Bucharest ) was a Romanian actor who became known through some DEFA film productions , but especially through the DEFA Indian films.

Life

After studying at the Institute of Fine Arts and at the Theater and Film Art Institute in Bucharest (IATC), where he was trained by Mihai Popescu and Marietta Sadova , among others , he made his film debut in 1953 in Nepoții gornistului , directed by Dinu Negreanu . Numerous national films followed, including with the renowned Romanian film director Ion Popescu-Gopo . In the 1970s he played in GDR film productions for DEFA, such as in 1970 in Signals - A Space Adventure . He gained fame primarily through his participation in so-called DEFA Indian films , such as Osceola , Severino , or the film Sing, Cowboy, sing from 1981.

Darie's passion was also the stage, on which he was active and seen in numerous roles for the Bucharest Komische Theater even after the revolution ; He also worked for children's programs on Romanian television.

In 2009 he received the Prize of the Festivalul Comediei Româneşti, in the year of his death the Premiul Gopo.
