Iván Frigyér

Iván Frigyér (or Johannes , born September 7, 1898 in Kaprióra , Krassó-Szörény County , Kingdom of Hungary , Austria-Hungary ; † May 26, 1987 in Timișoara , Socialist Republic of Romania ) was Ordinarius substitutus in the Diocese of Timișoara .

Life

Iván Frigyér attended grammar school in Timișoara from 1908 to 1916 and then completed (1916–1921) studying theology in Timișoara. He was ordained a priest on July 3, 1921 . From 1921 to 1923 he worked as a chaplain in Lipova , from 1923 to 1929 at the inner-city parish church. From 1929 to 1932 he worked as a religion teacher in the city center and from 1932 in Freidorf and from 1946 canon of the Timișoara diocese .

After Joseph Pless was arrested in the summer of 1951, Canon Iván Frigyér, the only cathedral capitular still free , was appointed Ordinarius Substitutus . Iván Frigyér held this post until 1954, when Augustin Pacha was released from prison. When news of the release of Bishop Augustin Pacha was received, Ordinarius Frigyér sent a telegram expressing his joy at Augustin Pacha's return home. On July 12, 1954, Canon Frigyér welcomed Bishop Pacha to his return home. Iván Frigyér was also the one who presided over the funeral of Augustin Pacha on November 8, 1954 and who gave the commemorative speech based on the Gospel, an address on the life and ministry of Bishop Augustin Pacha. After the Requiem, the grant of the absolute took place, which was also made by Canon Frigyér.

From 1956 to 1973 Iván Frigyér worked as a pastor in Chișoda . Iván Frigyér was buried in the cathedral crypt after his death.
