Iván Velasco Murillo (born February 7, 1980 in Arrasate , Gipuzkoa ) is a former Spanish cyclist .

Career

He started his career in 2006 with the second-rate Spanish professional team Orbea . In the 2007 season he moved to the Basque team Euskaltel-Euskadi , which takes part in the UCI Pro Tour .

Velasco was a member of the Euskaltel-Euskadi squad at the Giro d'Italia 2007 . He finished the three-week race in 76th place. In the following years he took part twice in the Giro d'Italia and once each in the Tour de France and the Vuelta a España . His best result was 51st place at the Vuelta a España 2008 .

Velasco had a good spring in 2010 when he finished 16th in the Tour of Catalonia and 18th in the Tour Down Under and the Basque Country Tour . In 2012 he was ninth in the overall ranking of the Vuelta a Castilla y León .

He ended his career at the end of the 2014 season.
