Ivan Čabala (born February 13, 1960 in Humenné ) is a former Slovak football player and current football coach .

Club career

Ivan Čabala began his career in 1979 at Lokomotíva Košice . There the midfielder stayed until 1986, apart from his military service in 1982/83 with Dukla Prague and 1983/84 with RH Cheb .

For the 1986/87 season he was brought in by Sparta Prague to replace Jan Berger . With Sparta he won the Czechoslovak Championship in 1987, 1988, 1989 and 1990. Over time, he withdrew to the libero position . In the summer of 1990 he moved to the then Swedish second division club Västerås SK , but returned to Prague after six months and was able to celebrate his fifth championship title with Sparta. In the 1991/92 season Čabala played for Kremser SC in the Austrian Bundesliga . He then played for two years for FK Viktoria Žižkov , then for FC Příbram and FC Střížkov. He let his career end with the lower class clubs Sokol Královice and Sokol Ondřejov.

National team

Ivan Čabala played four times for the Czechoslovak national football team between 1986 and 1989 .

Trainer

After his active career, Ivan Čabala was a coach in Hořín u Mělníka, and since the beginning of 2007 he has been the coach of the fourth division team Marila Votice.
