Ivan Benito (born August 27, 1976 in Aarau ) is a Swiss - Spanish football player . He played in the position of goalkeeper .

career

Benito started his career at FC Aarau . In the 1996/97 season he made the leap to the first team, initially as a substitute goalkeeper. From the 1998/99 season he was a regular goalkeeper at FC Aarau - until the 2002/03 season when he was ousted by Massimo Colomba . Therefore, he moved abroad to Italy in the 2003/04 season . There he played first with Pistoiese and later with the SS Juve Stabia .

In the 2006/07 season, a few weeks after the winter break, Benito went back to FC Aarau with a half-year contract because regular goalkeeper Colomba and substitute goalkeeper Greco had both been injured for several weeks. In eleven games, he made a significant contribution to the relegation of FC Aarau. For this he was given a three-year contract. Even after starting goalkeeper Colomba recovered from his injury early in the 2007-08 season, Benito stayed in goal. On June 14, 2010 it was announced that Benito would move to the Grasshopper Club in Zurich . There he signed a two-year contract. As part of a goalie castling, he switched to the Bernese Young Boys in January 2011 in exchange for Roman Bürki .

He is the uncle of Loris Benito , who plays for BSC Young Boys .
