Ivan Franjic (born September 10, 1987 in Melbourne ) is an Australian football player .

Early career

Franjic played for the Meadow Park Eagles , Melbourne Knights and St. Albans Saints during his junior career . In the 2005 season he made his debut for the St. Albans Saints and came there in 39 games, in which he was able to score five goals, for use. After the 2005/06 season he returned to the Melbourne Knights, for whom he had previously been active. After he was able to score nine goals in 50 games for the Knights, he moved to the Oakleigh Cannons . Because the Victorian Premier League is only a semi-professional league, Franjic was also a carpenter at the time.

Brisbane Roar

On August 31, 2009, he was signed after a short-term injury to replace Andrew Packer on loan from the A-League club Brisbane Roar . During his first season in the A-League, completed 20 games for the club. He scored his first goal on July 2, 2010, from a penalty in a friendly against the Newcastle Jets . His first A-League goal for Brisbane followed on matchday 10 of the 2009/10 season against the Central Coast Mariners at Bluetongue Stadium with a strong volley from outside the box. In the 2011 A-League final , Franjic was the first shooter to score on penalties against the Central Coast Mariners, which ended 4-2 after the penalty shoot-out. Also in 2012 and 2014 Franjic was able to win the Grand Final with Brisbane.

Torpedo Moscow and Melbourne City FC

In August 2014, he signed a three-year contract with Russian Premier League participant Torpedo Moscow . However, Franjic terminated his contract two years before the contract expired in April 2015 due to outstanding wage payments.

So he moved back to Australia in the summer of 2015. There he signed a three-year contract with Melbourne City .

Daegu FC

After two years of injuries at Melbourne City, however, he only moved to Daegu FC in South Korea . However, he only stayed there for three months. He could only make two games in K League 1 .

Return to Brisbane Roar

After his time in South Korea he returned to Australia to Brisbane Roar , where he was only partially given a regular place and was able to score a goal in 15 games.

Perth Glory

Franjic has been playing in the A-League at Perth Glory since 2018 . With the Australians he was able to score three goals in 44 games.

International career

He made his debut for the Australian national team in December 2012 under Holger Osieck . Franjic was named to the squad for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil in May 2014 . At the World Cup, however, he was only used in the 1: 3 opening defeat against Chile before he was canceled for the rest of the tournament due to a muscle tear in his right thigh. The Socceroos had to defy respectable performance after the first round sail deleted as they also to Chile the Netherlands and Spain subject. When they won the Asian Cup in 2015 , Franjic was in the starting line-up of the Socceroos in every game .
