Ivan Lepinjica (born July 9, 1999 in Rijeka ) is a Croatian football player . The defensive midfielder plays for HNK Rijeka and is a Croatian U21 international.

Career

Ivan Lepinjica first played in Istria with Pazinka Pazin before he moved to the HNK Rijeka football school in his hometown . After he outgrown the youth teams, he was awarded to the second division NK Zadar from August 2018 . There he fought for a regular place before the loan contract was canceled again for the winter break. Back in Rijeka, Lepinjica made his debut in the Croatian first division on February 22, 2019 at the age of 19 in a 4-2 away win against NK Rudeš . As a result, he was used regularly and won the Croatian Cup in 2019 and 2020 with HNK Rijeka . In qualifying for the 2019/20 UEFA Europa League , Lepinjica and the team were eliminated in the playoffs against KAA Gent .

National team

Lepinjica played three times for the Croatian U19 national team in 2017 and once for the U20 team in 2019. On September 5, 2019, he played for the Croatian U21s for the first time in a 3-0 win in the friendly against the United Arab Emirates .
