Ivan Markov

Ivan Markow ( Bulgarian Иван Марков ; born September 14, 1988 in Burgas ) is a Bulgarian weightlifter .

He won the bronze medal at the European Junior Championships in 2004, 2006 and 2007. Shortly before the 2008 Olympic Games, he was tested positive for metandienone in a doping control and banned for four years. After his suspension, he participated in the 2012 Olympic Games and reached fifth place in the class up to 85 kg. In 2013 he won the silver medal at both the European and World Championships. Since autumn 2012 he has also started for SV Germania Obrigheim , with which he became German team champion in 2013. In 2014 he became European champion and again vice world champion. Shortly before the European Championships in 2015 , he and ten other members of the Bulgarian national team tested positive for stanozolol and banned for 18 months.
