Ivana Brkić

Ivana Brkić (now Ivana Mesić ) (* 11. September 1986 in Zagreb ) is a Croatian Dance - Pop - and House - singer .

Life

Ivana Brkić began performing at various festivals at the age of twelve. It wasn't long before the young talent was discovered. At the end of 1999, Svaki pogled tvoj (German: "Each of your looks") was released, the first single with which the singer wanted to establish herself in the Croatian music market.

Almost a year later, at the end of 2000, the singer released her debut album at the age of only 14 with the title Prste k sebi (English: "Finger away"). The album goes in the style of "Pop". To market the album, the singer flew to Egypt to record the video clip for the single Pustinja (German: "desert"). Appearances on Croatian television followed, but the success of the debut was rather modest.

The young singer wanted to change her image and musically go in a different direction. In spring 2002 appeared with SMS , written u. a. by Alka Vuica , a well-known Croatian singer and popular songwriter , a dance song in the style of Colonia . Ivana performed the song at the Hrvatski Radijski Festival (an annual musical show) and received positive feedback for the musical development. In the course of the year, the singles Samo šuti (German: "Just be quiet") and Nije me sram (German: "Don't be ashamed") followed, like the second studio album Uzmi Sve (German: "Nimm everything ") contained dance and house elements.

In the spring of 2003, just a few months after the original release, a limited special edition of the album was released, which contained two new tracks. One of the songs, Previše od mene traziš ( Eng : "You ask too much of me), was released at the same time. The singer achieved her national breakthrough with her second album. Uzmi Sve sold 7,500 copies by the end of 2003 and was then from Croatia Records awarded silver . The fourth or fifth single from the second studio album was Oći boje kestena (English: "Eyes with the color of chestnuts"). The single was able to build on the success of its predecessors.

In the 2nd quarter of 2004 the singer released a completely new up-tempo single called Nježno, Nježnije ( Eng .: "Gentle, Gentle"). In the accompanying video clip, Ivana shows herself to be much more adult and mature than in her previous works. Nježno, Nježnije became a big radio hit and helped the young singer to become more popular. In September 2004 Ivana finally came of age, a few months later the song Manijak , a cover of Michael Sembello's Maniac , known from the movie Flashdance, was released .

In the spring of the following year, the first harbinger of the third studio album followed with Kora pod nogama (English: "bark under your feet"). With this title she took part in the Hrvatski Radijski Festival 2005 and won first place in the SMS voting for the best title. After this success, Ivana devoted herself to her private life again, graduating from high school in summer 2005 and enrolling at a university in Zagreb . Nevertheless, in November 2005 the single Luda Mala (German: "Kleine Verrückte") followed and in December the third and so far last album Sve je samo fol (German: It's all just a joke ), which received good reviews and some of it was even considered the "best album of 2005".

At the end of 2005, the singer announced that she was no longer interested in recording albums and video clips and performing. Rather, she would like to immerse herself in her faith and live according to it. In addition to the announcement that she would withdraw from the music business, she confessed that she had been a member of Jehovah's Witnesses since she was 13 . This statement caused a minor scandal in the Croatian press. In early 2006, S vremena na vrijeme (German: "From time to time") followed, the last single from the album. At the height of her musical career, she ended it after seven years. At the time, it was unclear whether there would ever be a comeback.

The former singer married on July 23, 2011 and moved to Ljubljana with her husband Emir Mesić . Seven years after Brkić, now Mesić, left the show business, she announced in a radio interview that she no longer wanted to return to the stage, but fondly remembered the time.
