Ivo Appel
Ivo Appel (* 1965 in Karlsruhe ) is a German legal scholar. He is professor of constitutional law, German and European administrative law, environmental law and legal philosophy at the University of Hamburg .
Life
Ivo Appel spent his school days from 1970 to 1982 at the European School in Karlsruhe . Between 1982 and 1987 he studied law and philosophy at the Universities of Erlangen , Lausanne and Freiburg . This was followed by study visits to the University of Strasbourg and the London School of Economics .
In 1997 he received his doctorate from the law faculty of the University of Freiburg and his habilitation there in 2001 . The appointment as university professor at the University of Augsburg in 2003 was followed by the acceptance of an offer and appointment as university professor at the University of Hamburg in 2011. Appel has been the managing director of the Environmental Law Research Center there since 2012.
