Ivo Medek (born July 20, 1956 in Brno ) is a Czech composer and music teacher.

Medek studied at the music faculty of the Janáček Music Academy (JAMU) with Alois Piňos , where he obtained a master's and doctor's degree. He has been teaching composition and music theory here since 1999, initially as a lecturer and since 2007 as a professor. Between 2002 and 2008 he was dean of the music faculty and since 2009 he has been rector of JAMU. He also gave courses a. a. at the Mozarteum in Salzburg, the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna , the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz , the Darmstadt Summer Courses and the Society for New Musicas well as the centers for new music in Dresden and Weimar. His more than fifty works include compositions such as a piano and a percussion concert, a symphony, an opera and multimedia projects.
