Daniel James McBreen (born April 23, 1977 in Burnley , England ) is an Australian football player .
Club career
His first stop in professional football was Newcastle United Jets in Australia. In the 2000/01 season he scored six goals in 23 games. In the following season he reached the A-League Finals with Newcastle and played a total of 13 times that season, scoring three goals. For the 2005/06 season he signed a contract in the Scottish Premier League, with FC Falkirk . After a season in Scotland, he joined the English League One club Scunthorpe United . In England he made seven league appearances and one game in the FA Cup . In the 2007/08 season there was another brief stint in Scotland at St. Johnstone FC . In the summer of 2009 he returned to Australia and signed a contract with the North Queensland Fury . After only six months at Fury, he switched to Perth Glory in exchange with James Downey and played in the A-League finals with Perth that season , but was eliminated there against Wellington Phoenix . In August 2010 he moved to league rivals Central Coast Mariners . In his first season with the Mariners they reached the play-off final, which was lost on penalties against Brisbane Roar . In 2012 and 2013 he reached the finals again with the Mariners. In the 2012/13 season he was the top scorer with 27 goals. From June to October 2013 he moved to Shanghai East Asia on loan to China for three months . For the 2013/14 season he returned to the Mariners.
On January 31, 2014, McBreen signed a one-year contract with Shanghai East Asia. The transfer fee was approximately 250,000 Australian dollars. In January 2015 he moved to South China AA in the Hong Kong Premier League . His contract there ended in May 2015.
