The A-League 2018/19 was the 14th season of the highest Australian football league since it was founded in 2005. The regular season began on October 19, 2018 and ended on April 28, 2019, followed by the final round. The defending champion was Melbourne Victory .

mode

The clubs initially played a three round tournament , which resulted in a total of 27 games per team. The game was played according to the 3-point rule (three points per win, one point per tie). The table was determined according to the following criteria:

  1. Number of points scored
  2. Goal difference from all games
  3. Number of goals in all games
  4. Number of points scored in direct comparison
  5. Goal difference in direct comparison

At the end of the regular season, the two teams with the highest points qualified directly for the semi-finals of the final round. Your two opponents were determined in the quarter-finals between the table third to sixth. The better team in the regular season was set against the worst team in both rounds. The winner of the Grand Final became Australian champions.

The best team of the regular season, also known as the Premiership winner, and the winner of the Grand Final qualified for the group stage of the 2020 AFC Champions League . The third-place finisher in the regular season started in the second qualifying round of the Champions League. The New Zealand club Wellington Phoenix , which is not a member of the AFC and was therefore excluded from all Asian competitions, was an exception .

There is no relegation to the second-rate National Premier Leagues .
