Career

Neville in the Perth Glory Jersey (2008)

Scott Neville was born in 1989 to professional soccer player Steve Neville in Devon, England, but moved to Australia with his family at the age of nine. There he played in the youth of Sorrento FC from the western Australian metropolis Perth and soon attracted attention at the state level. He represented the youth teams of Western Australia in the age groups U-13, U-14 and U-16 and was part of the provisional National Training Center in 2006.

In 2006 he moved into the adult division and won the championship of the Western Australia Premier League , the top division of the state , with Sorrento in 2006 and 2008 . In mid-2008, Neville moved to the Perth Glory's newly created youth team for the National Youth League . The season about regularly in the youth league in use, appointed David Mitchell , the coach of the professional team, Neville for the first time for the away game on December 31, 2008 against the Central Coast Mariners in the professional team. There Neville made his A-League debut as a substitute and was on the starting line-up on the following last three match days. At the end of the season, Neville was honored internally as the best youth player with the award Most Glorious Youth Player and for the 2009/10 season, alongside Andrija Jukic , Anthony Skorich , Howard Fondyke and Brent Griffiths, was one of five players from the youth team with a professional contract.

Neville immediately got along with the higher demands of the professional league and stood out in particular with his thirst for learning. For much of the season he was a right-back at the side of Chris Coyne , Jamie Coyne , Andy Todd and Naum Sekulovski in the defensive line-up when the club first qualified for the championship play-offs. In the first round of the play-offs Neville scored against Wellington Phoenix to equalize 1-1, but Perth Glory was eliminated on penalties.

With a view to qualifying for the 2012 Summer Olympics , Neville was appointed to the Australian Olympic selection by U-23 national coach Aurelio Vidmar in September 2010 for a four-nation tournament in Hanoi, Vietnam , and was used in all three tournament games.
