Joshua "Josh" Brillante (born March 25, 1993 in Bundaberg ) is an Australian football player .

Career

Brillante played most of his youth for Across the Waves SC in his hometown of Bundaberg. Early on, Brillante was identified as one of the greatest talents in his region and was a regular member of state selection teams. In 2005, he was named Wide Bay Primary Sports Person of the Year after leading the Queensland school selection to a tied first place in the national school championships. In 2008 he played with Bundaberg Spirit in the Queensland State League and later won the Bundaberg Premier League championship with Across the Waves ; The 15-year-old Brillante also received the Bundaberg Junior Player of the Year award . The following year he moved to Brisbane to take up a scholarship at the Queensland Academy of Sport before being recruited for their youth team by the newly formed A-League club Gold Coast United .

With coach Mike Mulvey's youth team , Brillante won the championship in the National Youth League in 2010 and 2011, and in 2010 he also received the club's internal youth star of the future award . Brillante made his debut in the Australian professional game class under coach Miron Bleiberg on December 1, 2010, when he moved to the starting line-up as a right- back after several injury-related failures in the 2-1 defeat by North Queensland Fury . Brillante, who names Harry Kewell as a sporting role model and can also be used variably in midfield, was used again until the end of the season. After he trained with the professional squad during the season break, his playing times increased in the 2011/12 season , also benefiting from the fact that the club owner severely limited his financial support and was forced to rely more on young players. This led, among other things, to the fact that Brillante, as part of the youngest team in league history, played a 3: 3 against the leaders Central Coast Mariners in February 2012 . After Gold Coast United's owners had their license withdrawn during the current season and the season ended under the leadership of the Australian Association, the latter dissolved the team at the end of the season.

During the break of the season, Brillante, as well as his teammates James Brown and Mitch Cooper , signed a contract with the Newcastle United Jets .

In the 2014/15 season , Brillante moved to the Italian first division club Fiorentina .

He returned to Australia in July 2016 and joined Sydney FC . With the club he won the A-League in 2016/17 and the final of the Australian championship.

Brillante was part of the squad for the Australian U-20 team for the first time in August 2011 as part of the SBS Cup in Japan and later that year it was also part of the squad for the 2012 U-19 Asian Football Championship qualifying tournament .
