Heinz Pönert

Heinz Pönert (born August 20, 1920 ) was a soccer player in Leipzig and was GDR champion with the BSG Chemie Leipzig . He later became a soccer coach in the GDR soccer match .

Pönert was a player at TuRa Leipzig until 1945 and played with this club in the Gauliga Sachsen , at that time one of the highest division of the German Football Association . After the end of World War II, TuRa Leipzig was dissolved and many of the former players joined the newly formed SG Leutzsch . 25-year-old Heinz Pönert was among them. The SG successor, the ZSG Industrie Leipzig, was one of the founding communities of the DS -Oberliga (later GDR-Oberliga ) in 1949 . In the regular squad was Pönert, who played 21 of the 26 point games in the first league season 1949/50. He was used flexibly in all parts of the team. Already in the second season, the Leipzig team, now competing as BSG Chemie, fought for the championship. The now 30-year-old Pönert was only used in three point games. In the 1951/52 season Pönert was used twice in point games, then he ended his career as a football player. In the GDR Oberliga he was used in 26 point games between 1949 and 1952. He did not achieve goals.

Trainer

In 1953 Pönert began to work as a soccer coach. In the 1953/54 season he looked after the upper division Empor Lauter , then he worked for Chemie Leuna and led the team in 1955 in the third class II. GDR league . From March to July 1958, Pönert was a trainer for 12 match days at the upper division Motor Jena before he was replaced by Georg Buschner . In the summer of 1961 he took over the climber in the second-rate GDR league Stahl Stalinstadt , which was renamed steel Eisenhüttenstadt shortly afterwards. With the new league he was able to end the 1961/62 season with relegation. After he had taken over the coaching position at the newly promoted GDR league SC Frankfurt at the beginning of the 1962/63 season , his coaching license was revoked in November 1962 by the GDR football association for "behavior that was harmful to the association" . But as early as the 1963/64 season Pönert was allowed to return to the coaching profession and looked after the GDR league team Motor Bautzen for three seasons . From 1966 he was a coach at activist Black Pump and rose after just one season from the third division to the GDR league. In the 1980s Pönert was a district trainer at the Frankfurt / Oder district association and lived in Eisenhüttenstadt .
