Ivan Fyodorowitsch Tschermny Wolkonski ( Russian : Иван Фёдорович "Чермный" Волконский; * before 1600 ; † 1641 ) was a Russian prince and voivode .

Military career

From 1614 Ivan Volkonsky served as voivode in Ryashsk , in 1615 he was transferred to Uglich and in 1616 to Lebedjan . Deployed in a guard regiment, he fought against the Crimean Tatars in 1617 . As voivode, he commanded a major unit in Kitai-Gorod in 1624 and was then deployed in Ryazan . In 1633 he returned to Moscow and was involved in the defense of Moscow against the Crimean Tatars. From 1636 he headed the construction of Rostov and was voivode in Vologda from 1637 to 1639 .

Origin and family

Ivan Fyodorowitsch Volkonsky came from the aristocratic Volkonsky family , a branch of the Rurikids . His father was the military leader Knes Fyodor Ivanovich Volkonsky (Князь Фёдор Иванович Волконский; * before 1580; † 1630). His marriage to Alexandra Volkonskaya († after 1646) had seven sons (Fyodor, Ivan, Michail, Pjotr, Semjon, Dawyd and Vladimir), the fifth son was Vladimir Ivanovich Volkonsky (* after 1640; † 1697), who set the Continuation of the lineage from which the Baltic line emerged at the end of the 18th century with Pyotr Michailowitsch Volkonsky (1776–1852) .
