Ivan Hryhorowytsch Kyrylenko ( Ukrainian Іван Григорович Кириленко ; born October 2, 1956 in Berestove , Berdjansk Raion , Zaporizhia Oblast , Ukrainian SSR ) is a Ukrainian politician.

Life

Ivan Kyrylenko studied agronomy at the Dnipropetrovsk State University of Agricultural Sciences (DGAU / ДГАУ) until 1978 . He is a candidate in historical sciences and has been a doctorate in economics since 2001.

Between 1995 and November 2014 Kyrylenko was a member of the Ukrainian Peasants' Party , later of the All-Ukrainian Association "Fatherland", of the Verkhovna Rada , the Ukrainian parliament.

From January 10, 2000 to April 19, 2002, he was Minister of Agriculture of Ukraine , first in the Yushchenko cabinet and then in the Kinach cabinet . From November 26, 2002 to February 3, 2005 he was Vice-Prime Minister of Ukraine in the Yanukovych I cabinet .

As the leader of the Blok Juliji Tymoshenko (BJuT) parliamentary group , he described Georgia as the aggressor in the Caucasus War in 2008 . The difference in opinion on this point is believed to be the cause of the collapse of the coalition between BJuT and the Our Ukraine bloc .

Kyrylenko is a corresponding member of the Ukrainian Academy of Agricultural Sciences and holder of the Order of Merit of Ukraine .

Private

Ivan Kyrylenko is married and has one daughter.
