Ivan Shishmanov
Ivan Dimitrow Schischmanow ( Bulgarian Иван Димитров Шишманов ; born June 22, 1862 in Swishtov , † June 23, 1928 in Oslo ) was a Bulgarian politician, literary historian and folklorist.
Life
Schischmanow studied in Leipzig in 1889 . In the same year he founded the scientific publication Sbornik sa Narodni Umotworenija . From 1894 he worked as a professor at the Sofia University. He was a member of the People's Liberal Party of Bulgaria and was Bulgarian Minister for Popular Education from 1903 to 1907.
Schischmanow was a member of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences . In his scientific work he dealt with Bulgarian, but also with world literature as well as folklore , history, pedagogy and psychology.
Shimanov was the son-in-law of Mychajlo Drahomanow .
