Ivan Terentyevich Golyakov

Ivan Terentjewitsch Golyakov ( Russian Иван Терентьевич Голяков , scientific transliteration Ivan Terent'evič Goljakov ; born 1888 ; died 1961 ) was a Soviet judge and prosecutor who became one of the organizers of the Stalinist repression .

Golyakov was a member of the Military College of the Supreme Court from 1933 , and from 1938 to 1948 he was chairman of the Supreme Court of the USSR . He was instrumental in the purge of the Red Army .

According to Alexander Solzhenitsyn , it was said that he loved to work in the garden, was a book lover who frequented second-hand bookshops, and was a connoisseur of Tolstoy , Korolenko and Chekhov .

He received various honors, including twice the Order of Lenin .
